Ishpeming, MI - Bugler's Holiday

Govenaires...............76.2
Kilties..................73.1
Ishpeming Blue Notes.....67.5
Chicago Vanguard.........61.6

VANGUARD - They did not march full corps. They only had 4 guard, 13 brass,
and 6 percussion; none of the percussion marched. Overall, I thought
they played very well, although I thought they did too much Park & Blow.
This was the first time I have seen them this year, and I enjoyed their
show. I would like to have seen it with full corps.

BLUE NOTES - First organized in 1984, this was their first competition
as a Senior Drum & Bugle Corps. They mainly do concerts and exhibitions.
They opened their show with "Stars & Stripes Forever" with a soprano
playing the piccolo solo. One thing I didn't really like about their
show was that they stood still for the entire second piece. Other than
that, I thought they did an excellent job for their first competition.

KILTIES - This was the first time I've seen them, too. I really enjoyed
their show, except for the fact that they only had 5 guard, and they didn't
do much. What they did do was all back field, so I couldn't really see
what they were doing. They had a lot of fun on the field, but they
didn't let it interfere with their performance.

GOVENAIRES - Although I thought they should have placed below the Kilties,
I really enjoyed their show. Their guardwork was really clean, and they
play well to gether as an ensemble.

Before the grand finale, each corps performed an encore, which was basically
a whole show, but without moving. It was exciting, but it got a little bit
long. By the time the grand finale started, most of the crowd had left.
