June 30, Clovis, CA

Thanks to PapouMav on RAMD for this review!

Good morning, again:

Don't know if there's been any review yet, but some interesting
stuff happened this past Friday in Clovis:

1. Blue Devils revamped their show. New guard uniforms. New
drill, new music. SKULLS used by colorguard. Creepy music.
Still undefeated.

2. Vanguard revamped, added new guard uniform (long colorful
vests.) Tubes are up front. White dots now carry the black and
white swirl from the flags and 'wheel of fortune.'

3. Blue Knights look like they have too many new guard.

4. VK is hot, but has a lot of work ahead. One of their members
said they learned the drill last week. Ow! New uniforms are incomplete
but are the white jacket, black pants, and yellow baseball cap. Guard
in aqua and yellow body suites with chiffon bits. At one point the
entire corps plays percussion instruments. Definitely fun. One of the
horns took a spill -- not a fun picture though.

5. Division II is getting way tight. Just 1.5 points seperate the three
groups. They keep switching every show.

6. VK Percussion came in SECOND! Poor Vanguard came in
4th. This seems to be their trouble spot.

7. Vanguard has baby tubes now in the pit. Cute little things that
are played very rapidly.

8. Asked a Vangurad guy what the corps is saying in the beginning
of their show. He said, "What ever we like." And he says they can
say anything as long as it's not vulgar or cuss world.

9. BD has skeletons painted on those tenor drums.

Back to the article....stay tuned.....
