June 21, Sacramento, CA

Thanks to DRumCOrpsJ on r.a.m.d for this review!

Downsizing has spread to Drum Corps??

Velvet Knights
46 Horns
6 snare, 3 tenors 4 bass drums
11 guard ????
-new unis
Blue Nasa type jumpsuits with white belts, blue VK baseball caps and RED
CONVERSE HIGH TOP TENNIES!
Guard unis are spaceage and awesome, all silver that is almost chrome,
great effect but only 11??
-Space show has some nice spots with room for plenty of room for antic
additions, but too many dead spots now.
They won't make top twelve.

Blue Knights
42 Horns
7 snare, 3 tenor, 4 bass drums
28 guard

I liked the show better than last year, but the sop line just dies to the
point of almost losing it. A lot of young players.
Won't make top twelve.

Santa Clara
58 Horns (with a few holes yet)
7 snare, 4 tenor, 5 bass drums
30 guard

-new unis
These will take some getting used to, but they look really sharp! The
bottom half is such a dark green that it looks black, with the white top
half it appears pretty basic, but the copper cross belt is a NICE look.
Beautiful show and they are really well prepared this year. They are
going to be up in the fight this year.
They guard REALLY adds to the show with FLAGS ONLY. A great use of
stunning color to accent the show.

Blue Devils
66 Horns (Yikes!)
7 snare, 4 tenors 5 bass drums (why smaller?)
36 guard!!!!!!!

- Gaurd unis are multi colored earth tones and do nothing to accent the
corps, flags and equipment have no effect.
-Gangster music is a great show, but I think you need to see this more
than once to really get into it, although it is quite awesome the first
time around.
- I know the 76 will get criticized, but you ought to see these guys in
June before you say anything, there isn't a whole hell of a lot left to
clean, THEY ARE STRONG AND GOOD.

- Concord Show tomorrow night

       Jay
